Coins lapse. The stated rule at review time: coins expire at the end of the third month after they are earned, with the earning month counted as the first. Under that rule, coins earned any time in August would disappear at the end of October. Expiry mechanics change quietly, so check the dates on your own coins page rather than this snapshot.
Two redemption limits also appeared on the pages we reviewed: coins could cover up to 25% of a checkout amount, and a daily usage limit of 200 coins applied, refreshing 24 hours after the last purchase. If your checkout accepts a different amount, your account's live limit wins.

The honest math on any points program starts with who designed it. Shopee funds coins because they raise the chance of a next order: balances expire, cannot be withdrawn, and are capped at checkout, which means the only way to extract value is to keep buying. None of that makes coins a scam. A rebate on spending you already planned is real money off. It does make them a marketing instrument, and the correct posture is to collect passively and redeem deliberately, never to shop because a balance exists.
Coins help when three things are already true: the item was planned before you opened the app, the delivered total with coins applied beats your comparison price, and redemption does not push you into a bigger cart than the plan called for. Modest balances go furthest on small planned purchases, the kind we curate in our under ₱500 picks, though caps still bind: under the 25% limit we saw at review time, a ₱400 checkout could absorb at most ₱100 in coins. On a small planned item that is a visible reduction; spread across an inflated cart it is noise.

Coins sit alongside seller vouchers, platform vouchers, and shipping discounts, and the interaction between those controls is not something to assume.
